This is a small an intimate restaurant with
a great atmosphere and friendly service. The a la carte menu
lists starters such as pan-fried baby squid with Greek feta
salad, a seared tuna with coconut ginger and lime salad, or
spiced butternut squash and pumpkin soup and they are just the
starters. Mains range from fillet of skate with warm potato,
red pepper and caper salad, to rib eye steak with fat chips,
all priced around £13-£15.
L’Ortolan

For a great evening out where your assured
of an excellent menu then L’Ortolan is a very good choice.
The menu changes on a regular basis but will include dishes
such as langoustine and artichoke salad, or a duck and foie
gras tasting plate followed by roast fillet of sea bass with
Thai style shellfish nage, or fillet of beef with wild
mushrooms and a herb crust. The price for three courses is
£39 and then you’ll need to budget for wine on top of that,
but you’ll definitely enjoy a memorable meal.

The brasserie menu takes its inspiration
from Britain, France and the Mediterranean to conjure up
dishes such as herb roast chicken breast, caraway and cumin
baked halibut and roast rump of lamb carved pink with buttered
spinach. In its first year it was voted Best British
restaurant and given a Michelin star, so clearly they must be
keeping customers very happy and are more than worthy of a
try.
Hei’s
Restaurant 262-264 Oxford Road (0118 9599923)
Hei’s restaurant has a dazzling menu
ranging across the various oriental cuisine styles including
dishes from China, Malaysia and Thailand. The mix of Thai or
Chinese hors d’oeuvres give the best choice when it comes to
starters, whilst other exceptional dishes include crab with
ginger and spring onions or the baked lobster that are both
favourites of their award-winning chef.
